What does participation in the Olympiads give a child?

Why do you need to participate in Olympiads? Is there any benefit from it? Isn't it a waste of time and energy? These and many other questions always arise from parents and children, having heard the word "Olympiad". Olympiad is quite a good thing for pupils and students. Here you can show all your creativity, unusual thinking, gumption and mastery of the subject matter. Now you can take part in the Olympiad from preschool age and you don’t need to do anything extraordinary for that, you just have to express the desire and tell your nursery teacher or teacher about it. They will be happy to help you. But now back to the question of benefits. What are they and are they worth it? There are a lot of advantages here and most of them do not even depend on the place gained. Firstly, constant self-development. Children are very curious by nature, and many of them often try to find out as much as possible about a particular subject. Child goes beyond the school curriculum and it will probably be interesting for him to participate in the Olympiad, which directly concerns his area of interest and find out how much he already knows and how much more can be studied in the future. Often, the Olympiads are aimed at keeping the interest of the child, at expanding the horizons and developing a desire to strive for something more through the unusual construction of tasks. Also, when preparing for olympiads, a child learns to better process and perceive information, improves his memory. Secondly, these are facilities for study. Now there are many kinds of Olympiads, where each has special prizes for the first places. Somewhere you can immediately get an “excellent” grade for the year on the subject, somewhere you can get a grant for the implementation of your project, in another place it will be a grant to study abroad or within the country, and for high school students these are additional points for the Uniform State Exam or even the abilitynot to pass it on a particular subject. Thirdly, new acquaintances and impressions. While waiting for the Olympiad or its results, the child can communicate with his peers, make friends or compare himself with pupils from other schools, cities. It is possible to talk for a long time about the undoubted benefits of these events, but it seems that the above listed advantages are enough to plunge into the Olympiads with a head and strive for more. Goodluck!
